The Newest EPS Cutting Machine Vertical Cut
The vertical cut is the section of an EPS cutting machine that trims the four sides of a block. Its job is not to make the product but to make the product sellable: it removes the rounded, uneven skin left by the mould and gives the block square edges before it goes to the horizontal cut.
What this vertical cutting unit includes
- Oscillation cut as standard — the vibrating wire increases cutting speed by roughly 30% compared with a static wire, and cuts more cleanly on blocks that still carry moisture
- Top cooling fan — cools the upper wire ends
- Bottom cooling fan — cools the lower wire ends, the pair working together to prevent the heat build-up that causes most wire breaks
- Down scrap removal — collects the trimmed skin and offcuts below the frame instead of letting them pile up on the floor
- Automatic wire setting — available as an option for plants that trim several block widths
Why trimming is worth doing properly
A moulded block is never perfectly square. The faces bow slightly and the edges are rounded where the beads fused against the mould wall. If you cut sheets from an untrimmed block, the outer sheets are short, thin or missing an edge — and those are exactly the sheets customers reject. Trimming first converts that loss into a predictable, recoverable stream of scrap.
Turning the trim into material, not waste
The skin and edge trim from a vertical cut is clean, uncontaminated EPS. It is the easiest material in the plant to recycle, and feeding it through an EPS recycling machine returns it to production rather than to a skip. The scrap separator below the frame is what keeps that stream separate and usable.
