EPS vs XPS: Which Insulation Material Should You Choose?
Both EPS and XPS are expanded polystyrene insulation, but they differ in production and performance. This article helps builders and EPS factories decide.
Production difference
EPS is moulded from pre-expanded beads (see our pre-expander), while XPS is extruded. EPS is generally more cost effective and easier to recycle.
Which to choose
- EPS: lower cost, good thermal performance, easy to cut with an EPS cutting line
- XPS: higher compressive strength, often used in foundations
