EPS Packing Machine: Types, Film & Selection Guide
An EPS packing machine wraps finished EPS foam for shipping so blocks and parts arrive intact. “Packing” usually means film-wrapping EPS blocks; shape parts use a wrapping machine for 6-side PE film. This guide covers both, the film choices, and how to size a packer to your line.
Block packing vs shape wrapping
Blocks run through a packing machine for block foam — typically a through-feed film wrapper that bundles slabs for the truck. Shape parts need a 6-side wrapping machine that films each finished part. Pick by what leaves your plant: slabs → packing; finished parts → wrapping. Packing for block foam.
Film and throughput
PE film is standard; throughput is set by line speed and how many sides you wrap. A busy block line wants a continuous wrapper that keeps pace with the cutting line so packed blocks do not pile up waiting. Match the packer to your real daily cube, not a catalogue maximum.
Where it sits
Packing is the last step before the truck, fed by the cutting line (blocks) or the shape moulder (parts). A line that cuts fast but packs slow develops a bottleneck at the door — size packing to the cutter, not below it.
Selection checklist
- Block wrapper or shape wrappers? (or both)
- Film type and roll changeover time
- Throughput vs your cutting/molding output
- Footprint and integration with conveyors
